Spring pillow

Who say's spring and fall don't mix? My house is so fall-color-dominate that it's hard to "spring it up" but I found this fabric, Aviary 2 by Joel Dewberry and fell in love.

Look my other pillows match!

Lovely! Watch out pillows, now I know how easy it is to cover you...we might need new covers for every season.

I have a lumbar pillow waiting for this fabric...

Fabric necklace

Ta...Daaa!
I took a 4 inch wide by 42 inches- sewed one side all the way down, and turned it. Ironed it- seem running down the middle.
Pinking sheers to trim up the edges, and make it a little raw.
I slid in this green trim- envelope-style...this green trim, YUM. (I found this in the upolster-trim section at JoAnns on clearance-it was my inspiration)
I just put it on my leg, and started folding it in a neckline-shape.
After I pinned my tucks, I started at the green trim and just sewed down the middle.

Found a coordinating fabric- I am freaking out about coral ever since my pal said the word! cut a 2inch by 20inch, sewed it together, tied a knot for the center of the flower.
Then I just kept winding the fabric, hot-gluing as I make the shape I desired.
Using lace, fold on itself to make a leaf.
Glued leaf to flower, and then to fabric.Oh, La la. Lovely.
Making jewelry is a total passion. I make things often. Its just tough to interrupt the creative juices to document, and then blog it. Ahhh, I did it. This was about a 30min project.

Snowflake Skirts, for Easter

During Spring break my sister, Mom and I decided to make Easter Skirts for all the granddaughters. The pattern is called the Snowflake Skirt. Since Mom had made these for them all at Christmas, we decided to shorten the top layer to showcase the fabric a little more.
They really couldn't be cuter! I ended up making 2 for S. and one for M. It was so much fun!
My Sister was on the cutting, Mom was on the Sewing machine, and I was on the serger. We just rotated, held crying babes, and had such a blast!

Happy Birthday, Outfitted!

Now for the skirt. 1 yard of Mesh netting. Folded in half length wise, 2 times. Pinned, serged. Then I just used random strips of ricrac, bias tape, and fabric strips, and serged them on
no rhyme or reason. Usually this kills me- (all the non-measuring) but it worked today... Gather. There are so many ways to do this. But I now prefer the secret weapon of dental floss! So strong- and wont break when your tightening up the gather, or pulling it out. -but out of dental floss- (my husbands been flossing with the alligator flossers! Ha!) -used embrodory thread.....
.Then pin it like crazy to a pre-measured elastic.
Sew it onto the elastic. **just below the gathering floss... Then pull the flossi out. And back to the serger to bring it all together.
Flower on the Left... scroll down a bit for directions
I made the #1 out of bandana Bias tape. Just folds, and one straight stitch- raw edges left. Layered with 4 CD sized Red Mesh circles, 1 black felt circle, and then one scalloped edge.
Pinned on, then sewn.

For the poka-dot flower-hat... Cut a scalloped edge. As you can see imperfection is bliss... in the end.
Same flossi technique
Fold mesh circles in half, and then in half one more time.
Using hot-glue secure 4 of these mesh petals (or more) Then Glue the poka-dot flower on top
On the backside, I went for a Bonnet-tie. Elastic would have been cute too.
All Set! Little "Miss Moo" Turning ONE! And ready to party!

Leg Warmers

These are must-haves for the spring. I have loved leg warmers since 3rd grade. (thank you purple dreamwear!) I came across this tutorial and knew she had to have them. They were so fast and I pd. $4.98 for a 3pack at Target. She got one other pair and one for her big Sissy. I have also seen them paired with tights under the legwarmers, and at one of my favorite places....

Start your Engines

I have recently become a sewer. Meaning, I can plug in my machine, turn it on, and sew a straight line. And I feel like a million bucks! I've made a few pillow cases, and it's given me enough confidence to make this cute craft you see below.

Car Cozies! My boys are getting too big for Matchbox cars (at least I don't ever see them play with them, but as soon as I suggest getting rid of them, they LOVE them.) so I want to start handing some down to good friends and family for birthday presents, but I can't just give away chipped, worn out cars, so I saw this cute Car Cozy and knew it would be perfect. Hope you love them too. I'm going to tackle crayon cozies next.

My inspiration came from: http://homemadebyjill.blogspot.com/2009/12/cozy-car-caddy-tutorial.html the tutorial here is great, I followed it the best I could, but still made things up as I went.
